VARDA FOUNDATION
Name of partner
Description

Varda is a non-profit foundation operating a digital infrastructure that enables standardized sharing of field- and soil-level data to support the transition towards a nature-positive food system. The infrastructure operates two digital public goods: SoilHive and Global FieldID (GFID).
SoilHive is a global soil data platform designed to streamline access, sharing, and integration of soil information for research, policy, and sustainability applications. By bringing together fragmented datasets into a single, standardized system, SoilHive enables faster data discovery, secure collaboration, and seamless integration with existing tools.
Global FieldID (GFID) is an interoperability platform for field-level data exchange. With over 200 million standardized field boundaries worldwide, each linked to a unique persistent identifier, GFID reduces the cost of farmer onboarding and enables seamless data sharing between partners.
Role :
In EUROSION, Varda is focusing on the development of an open-access, user-friendly digital platform that enables diverse user groups (e.g. land managers, policymakers) to assess soil erosion status and monitor changes over time across multiple spatial scales. The platform will support evidence-based decision-making by facilitating access to harmonised data, visualisation tools, and different analytical functionalities. VARDA is leader of WP6 - Developing a European Dynamic Soil Erosion Monitoring Platform and all tasks within the work package.
