ISRIC–World Soil Information is an independent, science-based foundation dedicated to providing quality-assessed soil information and knowledge to address pressing global issues. Founded in 1966, and accredited as the World Data Centre for Soils since 1989, ISRIC is recognised as a leading global authority in soil information and a trustworthy soil data repository.
We develop innovative and science-based data products for global users. We provide standards, tools, capacity strengthening, and direct collaboration for the development and use of soil information products at (sub) national level in the Global South. Our World Soil Museum and Reference Collection serve as a center for education and awareness raising.

Role :

ISRIC contributes soil data expertise to EUROSION, supporting harmonised soil information, model evaluation, and integration of soil data into the project’s monitoring and platform activities.

Laura Poggio

At ISRIC, Laura contributes to and manages digital soil mapping and spatial modelling projects, integrating ground observations with remote sensing data. She is responsible for developing modelling approaches for new mapped soil products (properties and functions) to support sustainable land management in a changing climate. Reproducible research (workflows and results) and the use of open-source tools for spatial analysis are key components of methodological development. Examples of projects in which Laura is involved are SoilGrids and ESA-WorldSoils.

Ulan Turdukulov

At ISRIC, Ulan coordinates and manages SDI and GeoICT-related projects, serving as a link between project leaders and IT developers. Ulan also leads several work packages dealing with SDI design and deployments, such as WP6 in Soils4Africa and WP3 in DeSIRA LSC-IS Hubs.
