HFFA Research GmbH is a science-based consultancy committed to contributing to innovative solutions in the agricultural and food sectors that balance economic and ecological interests. We drive and support change processes through objective research and data-driven analysis.
Role :
HFFA Research leads the socioeconomic assessment of soil-erosion management in EUROSION, conducting cost-benefit and farm-accounting analyses for up to 25 practices at farm/landscape level to quantify costs, revenues, IRR/BCR/NPV and investment needs. Results feed deliverable D5.1 and will support policy recommendations.
Within WP5 - Exploring land management and policy dimensions for reducing soil erosion, HFFA leads task T5.1 - Socio-economic assessment of management practices to reduce soil erosion.
Steffen Noleppa
Managing Director
Steffen is an agricultural economist with 30+ years’ experience in global agricultural markets, rural policy and climate/environment economics. He specialises in ex-ante/ex-post impact assessment, market and food-sector modelling, and cost–benefit analysis, advising companies, governments and NGOs worldwide. Managing Director and Owner of HFFA Research; PhD in agricultural economics, MSc animal husbandry (HU Berlin).
Juliane Kaufmann
Managing Director
Juliane works on sustainable agricultural development at the interface of socioeconomic and environmental issues. Her focus is on climate-smart agriculture and agroecology, advising on measurement of socioeconomic impacts of policies and practices and conducting cost-benefit, cost-effectiveness and multicriteria analyses. She holds an MSc in natural resource economics and a BA in social sciences, plus training in international development cooperation (HU Berlin).
Matti Cartsburg
Senior Consultant
Matti is an agricultural economist with 10+ years’ experience in quantitative analysis of international agriculture. He specialises in modelling climate and policy impacts on ag markets, cost-benefit analysis of adaptation measures and environmental assessments, with a focus on links to water, GHG emissions, biodiversity and soil degradation. He conducts impact assessments and OECD/DAC evaluations and manages international projects. MSc agricultural economics (HU Berlin).
